Meet our Crew- Joel Hageman
Name: Joel Hageman
Position: Senior Ambassador of Gnar
Bio: Hailing from Fort Wayne, Indiana I spent my summers on a small inland lake progressing everything I could get my hands on. Wakeboarding, waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, barefooting, air chair and even the odd kneeboard session all nailed down a solid respect for the wind and water.
After seeing kiteboarding for the first time in 2000 my brother invested in an old foil style kite off ebay. For a year we tried our best to understand this thing. After some ill received advice, “just tie yourself to a boat lift to really learn how to steer that thing,” my brother got pounded and the lines broke. The kite went right into the closet.
A few years later while attending Michigan State University I ran across Matt and Keegan at a Bob Log III concert and they quickly pointed me in the right direction. Got some gear and in the summer of 2003 headed to metro beach and scored my first real session and was hooked.
Currently I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I ride as much as I can around the work schedule and travel as much as possible to kite destinations around the world. The Broneah attitude has been with me since day one. Having fun on and off the beach is what it is all about!!!
