Meet our Crew- Nate Davis
Name: Nate Davis
Position: Head Coach, Sales Manager
Bio: Before relocating to Traverse City to enjoy the clean, fresh-water of Lake Michigan, the surrounding inland lakes and the natural beauty of Northern Michigan, Nate’s family lived in the Detroit area. When they made the move, a range of opportunities became available!
Life in the Traverse City area offered Nate a life of Cycling, Wake and Snow boarding. As soon as he turned 16 he began working with local bike/skate shops and competed for several years on the National Off-Road Bicycle Association’s race series through out the United States. When there was any free time he could be found on the water, wake boarding or on the slopes, snowboarding.
Deciding to continue his education after High School, Nate attended Ferris State University where he received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Professional Certificate in International Business. He continued to surround himself in the action sports industry after school, working with several well known hard and soft goods companies. It was near the end of one summer when things changed…
“ I was busy working at the skate shop when Matt and Keegan Myers along with Cameron Dietrich walked in. The guys were talking about something called Kiting. At the time I was involved with Wake boarding and thought that these guys were only gonna get blown away… that might be fun!” Not long after that Nate bought a used 12m Naish Aero from a friend. “When I pumped the thing up, I thought to myself… This is huge, I’m gonna kill myself! I had never even seen it done! So I went to Broneah and asked Matt and Keegan what to do. They had me go to a lesson where I learned how to be safe and progress in the sport.”
Several years later, kiting has become a major aspect of Nate’s life. He is now a Full-time PASA certified Level-Three instructor and has taught students in Michigan (summer and winter), Puerto Rico and North Carolina. “I have met my best friends through kiting and can only explain it as a lifestyle not a sport. I plan on being involved with kiting in some way or another for the rest of my life.”
